The "Spire" possesses an otherworldly appearance, with its sharp, jagged features resembling other Helas Vessels. The massive edifice boasts a deep black surface, its dimensions precisely matching those of its sister ships. Its creator named it after the living engine at the ship's core, a sentience known as Svoghast Helas - a being spawned during the Creation War by the primordial mastermind Beldileck.

After the primordials were vanquished in the Creation War, spanning from 1486 DE to 8777 DE, rather than being imprisoned, the Helas Vessels were set adrift in the Void. The Covenant expended substantial efforts to locate them, rightly fearing that this technology could profoundly alter the balance of power for any who discovered even a single one of these ships.

The Lith-Crillion Era witnessed the arrival of four Helas Vessels on the world of Osâchar. In a region dominated by Durkoth tribal communities, these ancient, primordially-constructed vessels catalyzed significant progress and transformation.

In 537 HE, the Helas Vessels were utilized to escape a world under siege. Osâchar was abandoned to the ravenous illithid invaders. After three centuries of deep hibernation, upon reaching the world of Bal-Kriav in 862 HE, the arks landed scattered across the landscape. The Svoghast Helas, which would become renowned as the Spire of Krak-Oth, landed in the Mirtheon sector of the Grashakh Region. The passengers were the then mortal Krak-Oth, 4,000 Durkoth, and nearly 12,000 Theegan slaves. In 863 HE, they established the settlement of Argruxiel. From this stronghold, Durkoth influence expanded westward under the banner of the Ak'mrîtun Empire (872 HE - 49) and its future god-emperor.

In the Second Epoch, the Orchish Empire advanced into sector Mirtheon of the Grashakh Region. On 9 War March 1146, they constructed Fort Gháshulg near the Spire. Blac'drugulois, at the time a leader of an orc tribal federation, took the Spire as his new palace. Over the ensuing centuries, Gháshulg, the eventual capital of the Orchish Empire, grew to encompass the Spire of Krak-Oth.
