The Fros Idar is a mountainous region within the Northern Hordelands. Long inhabited by hill and stone giants, it is most remarkable for the colossal earth motes that hover above the area. Some of these floating landmasses serve as homes to clans of cloud giants, storm giants, and even a dragon or two. The largest of these earth motes is the Honeycomb Mine. During the Second Epoch, it was extensively mined by the Fargimdal Empire, which extracted a substantial vein of platinum. Now exhausted, the Honeycomb Mine is home to the nests of a dozen wyverns and a sizable Theegan outpost, whose sky riders serve the Witch Horde.
On the eastern flank of this mountainous expanse lies the Vuzara's Oven, the sole active volcano within the range. Constantly rumbling and belching smoke, its eruptions typically cascade eastward into a desolate geothermal landscape.
The lower reaches of Fros Idar are inhabited by Theegans, gnolls, bugbears, and airborne menaces such as wyverns and hippogriffs. The Theegans train and deploy hippogriffs as war steeds, their expertise with these mounts paralleling the lowland Theegans' mastery of the horse.
