Sentient 6 Bloom 1239
Location Raxcvillibus Dumu-loc

In the beginning, this blade was merely an ornate, non-magical short sword. Raxcvillibus forged it within the ruins of Yarrokhal. On 6 Bloom 1239, this weapon attained sentience when two of Mathongrarg 's incisors were incorporated into its crossguard.

With its cognizance, the sword became enchanted. It gradually accumulated more power and sentience from each soul it consumed with a lethal strike. Over time, the iron of the blade steadily vanished, leaving behind a bony material called bonebrack. As the weapon's magic fortified, components were removed and others incorporated. These subsequent additions were made when Raxcvillibus was presented with a godforge known as the Maze Furnace.

The sword's bone-chilling blade is connected to the hilt with the sacrum of a formidable gelugon . This ice devil was vanquished by Raxcvillibus during his initial expedition into the Hells system.

In the weapon's pommel rests the tip of a jet-black horn. This fragment comes from a black unicorn named Anabara. When Anabara perished in 1252, Raxcvillibus paid tribute to his former steed by severing the top of its horn and incorporating it into the sword. This imbued the weapon with the ability to teleport to Raxcvillibus's hand, even if held by another. Raxcvillibus implemented a safety mechanism in this enchantment, ensuring the sword's strong-willed ego would have no say in whether the teleportation occurs. While a mental command is required, the feature fails if the wielder cannot communicate telepathically. Mathongrarg's psyche, residing within the sentient sword Grarg, was displeased by this new addition, even feeling a touch of envy over Rax's demonstration of affection for the humble creature.

The Grarg is a lightning-fast +6 sword. Though wielded by many, the true owner of the weapon is Raxcvillibus. When Raxcvillibus was periodically taken away as part of Apoxlin's Sentence, the weapon was divinely compelled to remain on Bal-Kriav while its owner was absent. During these times, the sentient sword would teleport to random locations, telepathically beckoning intelligent creatures to claim it temporarily until Raxcvillibus returned. For some bearers, Grarg manifested as a short sword, for others a bastard sword, but in Raxcvillibus's grasp, it is always a bastard sword.

Raxcvillibus was condemned by the solar Apoxlin to serve a penance for his atrocities - the gravest of which was the destruction of souls. He was expelled from the Hall of Edicts, commencing a rotating sentence: nine years in the Hells, followed by nine years on Bal-Kriav, repeating until he had served one year for every lawful good soul he annihilated with his sentient sword Grag - a total of 198 years, 11 times in the Hells and 11 times returned to his home world Bal-Kriav.

Apoxlin's Sentence

The notorious Crick, erstwhile member of Black Banner, employed the armament for numerous years. Brandishing the Grarg, akin to a short sword, the individual vanquished two white dragons and a multitude of ice crabs within the span of merely five minutes.

At the wielder's discretion, when a creature approaches within 5 feet of the weapon, the entity will witness ghostly apparitions of malevolent spirits circling the length of the blade. The creature must succeed on a Will saving throw (DC 20) or forfeit initiative to the wielder. Perceiving this ability as a form of deception, the wielder, Rax, seldom utilizes the Lost Souls power.

Energy Transfer

The dragon shrieks in agony as a portion of its vital essence is drained. Functioning as a conduit, the dragon's life energy flows into the malevolently conscious sword, where it is transformed into dark power, mending Rax's damaged body.

Disintegration

Time appears to pause, or so it consistently has for Rax; then a faint rumbling sound reverberates outward from where the sword was lodged to the hilt in his adversary. Disengaging from the tail, he descends 15 feet, gazing upward at the delicate particles drifting from where an eight-foot segment of the dragon's tail once resided. The dragon shrieks in anguish, causing the remaining third of its tail, now detached from its form, to plunge into the scarlet-hued waters.
