Tarband-Khâl was founded by Turkûn soldiers who had served under Naraz-Nâru during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE). These individuals were part of the esteemed Mîmêk Army, having long served in the Underdark. After the war with the demons concluded, these people became known as the Mîmêk. They settled in the hills east of the Rukhs desert, south of an ancient primordial edifice named Nemexus. This structure, left behind by the disembodied thinker Ingu'lumin, still holds vast troves of lore and wonders. The Mîmêk planned to utilize the site's technology to secure the surrounding untamed lands. Patrolled by air elementals, teams worked to unravel the mysteries of the shifting psychic imprints, hoping to gain an advantage in this wild domain.
By the second century of the Lith-Crillion Era, Tarband-Khâl had grown into a place of prominence and novel concepts. Distant voyagers arrived, seeking out ancient wisdom and artifacts. Schools of magical scholarship were established, luring some travelers to join their ranks either as collaborators or instructors. The inaugural printing press was constructed in the machine shops of Tarband-Khâl; the deeper roots of the printing press stem from the blueprints of Ingu'lumin, which were conceived but never actualized.
By 348 LE, Tarband-Khâl had grown into a sizable fortified town. That same year, the town's leaders were approached by the advanced Lith-Crillion race, seekers of technology and knowledge, who expressed interest in Nemexus. The Lith-Crillion dismissed Tarband-Khâl's claims, informing the town's leaders they lacked the capability to truly comprehend the works of Ingu'lumin. They also warned that any tampering would likely unleash a powerful being locked away there, one that could destroy their budding civilization. Failing to reach an agreement, the Maziggandîm Conflict ensued.
In the year 355 of the Lith Crillion Era, the settlement of Tarband-Khâl was abandoned. Its inhabitants fled into the subterranean city of Zurukthûr, then descended deeper into the dark recesses of Unaraggumak. Some took up residence in the mining community of Munarkûn, while others traveled eastward to establish the settlement of Dushinbal.
In a remote and untamed area, Tarband-Khâl is a ruin inhabited by beasts and monsters. For several centuries during the First Epoch, it served as the abode of a family of shadow dragons. Driven out of Andigimok's lands, they made the ruin their new sanctuary. The people of Phlehorn referred to them as Tarband's Wraiths. Continuously a nuisance, preying on Phlehorn's farmers and frontier settlements, they were vanquished in 361; their fabled hoard was never located.
