Munarkûn originated from the extensive mines established by the Tarband-Khâl mining guilds. These subterranean excavations, commencing on the surface, spanned across numerous miles. At a depth of 1200 feet, the guilds constructed a hub for commerce, storage, and central security. The latter was necessary, as the entities roaming the darkness necessitated coordinated efforts, meticulous planning, and specialized measures to confront; engaging a black pudding, purple worm, or the lake monsters often demanded the presence of a spellcaster, and ideally, a healer as well.
Up until the Maziggandîm Conflict, Munarkûn was a modest mining town, never exceeding a thousand inhabitants. It served as a home to Turkûn employed by the mining guilds. The Maziggandîm Conflict compelled them and numerous fellow surface-dwellers to permanently relocate underground, while the Lith-Crillion assumed control of their former lands above. The majority of Tarband-Khâl's refugees descended into Khelan, taking up residence in Munarkûn and Dushinbal.
The Andam Gathal, the archives of Munarkûn, has a comprehensive record of the Maziggandîm Conflict. One rune tablet states that the Lith-Crillion emerged from Nemexus hurling bolts and balls of energy that grew in strength within months rather than the decades required for Web Weaver mastery. If this account is accurate, they either learned the techniques at a faster pace than today's practitioners, or they uncovered the secrets of Ingu'lumin for manipulating the Web.

Munarkûn's harbors gaze over the placid expanse of Arkan-Ragûma lake. The remainder of the city sprawls across craggy outcrops and hundreds of towering stalagmites, linked by thousands of elevated bridges spanning the grand thoroughfares below, where scores of Mîmêk soldiers could march side by side. The city's thriving copper and gem mines, as well as its access to the Earth Seam and the Damazandal river, have transformed it into a prosperous commercial hub.
The veneration of Baalzebul commenced in this settlement. It began during the Maziggandîm Conflict, with sinister agents infiltrating a predominantly displaced population. They frequently assumed the guises of those around them, blending seamlessly with the community, propagating the teachings of Baalzebul and assisting the people in acclimating to their new Underdark home. The notions of camaraderie, community, and benevolence were supplanted by competition, the principle of might makes right, and the subjugation of the weak to serve the strongest. Those who defied the new order vanished or were dispatched to the slave mines.
In 762 LE, Munarkûn was captured by Dushinbal. The unification of these rival city-states had long been an aspiration. The war erupted over which city would serve as the empire's capital. A year later, with Dushinbal as its capital, the Andigimok Empire was established.
