Borngring is a vast lava basin surrounded by the Fangs of Steirgar. The size of the Core Sea, it is strewn with the ruins of giants and men. Over the last two centuries of the Lith-Crillion Era and into the Horgon Era, fire giants and the Volgad engaged in warfare across the northern regions. The Volgad resided in the north, then a lush valley cut by rivers and hills. The fire giants, whose domain encompassed the areas south of this, had their primary settlements on the slopes of Guldat. The fire giants grew more emboldened when a charismatic and formidable fire giant took charge of their leadership.
Kelksorli and his army sailed skiffs against our bastions. They assailed us like marauders from the seas, utilizing obsidian boats that glided along the lava as if it were water. Guldat expelled rivers of lava that snaked from south to north, incinerating our lands to ash, carving deep into the earth, and trapping some keeps in lakes of fire. The walls of Imrik were breached by the largest giant the realm has ever witnessed. A humanoid three hundred feet tall, with a body of fire, encased in exotic armor, and wielding a flaming greatsword. The fire giant rent the walls, creating a 50' wide smoldering ruin. It then detonated into magma balls and smoke. The horde of Kelksorli sacked the city, slaughtering everything above the vermin.
excerpt from the book History of the Volgad
Near the heart of Borngring lies the discolored waters of Yrngreirn. Fed by geothermal run-off and shaken by the roar of geysers, it is the domain of the Great Bathouses, overseen by the industrious steam mephits.
Borngring is a tumultuous and dynamic landscape, boasting an abundance of mud volcanoes, simmering pools, gas vents, and recurrent volcanic eruptions. It serves as the abode for a diverse array of fiery entities, including the Azer, slithering fire snakes, hellish-looking felines, salamanders, relentless hell hounds, smoldering fire trolls, ferocious chimera, formidable dragons, and the mighty fire giants.
