The Domination Wars was a series of conflicts between the First Khazarkar Empire, under the power-hungry Conclave, and the nations of three regions: the mountain folk and feared mentalists of Borillisk, the river and coastal people of Burterinii, and the vale peoples of the Cal-Thaoun Dynasty, the Niratar Theocracy, and Melephaeusa.

The Domination Wars were marked by extensive use of magic. The primary culprits were the Conclave's web weavers. By bolstering spells through tapping the Web of Magic, they rained great destruction upon their foes and the land. The prolonged concentration in certain areas led to wild magic surges, dead magic zones, and tears in the Web. Occurring over two decades, the holes in the Web resulted in living spells, the creation of magical creatures, and magical storms ravaging the landscape, an event that would become known as the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203) and the subsequent Great Exodus.
