Born a lower caste Khazarkar, a Corralum, Thasmudyan yearned for authority, defying the Khazarkar powers, the Minâth.
In 390, a known rebel, Thasmudyan, was censured by the Church of Kebechet, becoming a Fallen Cleric . The church branded him an adversary of the state, aligning themselves with the empire's Minâth-Nôrî.
His desire for revenge and an insatiable craving for power and control compelled him to make dealings with darker elements on distant worlds. Through them, he learned of certain tomes found on Necrocrypt. He schemed to destroy the main temple of Kebechet. The raid on Miruk-Nalbêth would grant him entry to Îbendîllûn, where maps and secret pass-phrases needed to access the Abâthigûran vaults hidden across the isles of Gathrot were stored.
In 409, during a tumultuous period marked by undead activity, the Zenith of Darkness, Thasmudyan assailed the temple of Kebechet. He summoned three maralith blackguards , beseeching the aid of none other than Demogorgon. Demogorgon, ever eager to employ pawns to spread his Abyssal might, swiftly dispatched these three vile creatures, all members of his elite personal guard. This force, along with dozens of mercenaries, led to the plundering of Miruk-Nalbêth and the capture of the necessary items to unlock the Abâthigûran vaults.
In 410, Thasmudyan journeyed to Gathrot where he entered the Spire of Molakh-Búle. Within this ancient void ship, he acquired knowledge of the arcane Art of Necromancy and absconded with tomes and other Horgon relics. One of the plundered tomes was the tome of the Ebon Legion.
Thasmudyan advocated radical notions of extending life through necromantic methods. Nefarious individuals of society flocked to his Black Banner (a title later adopted by the adventuring party Black Banner ). He engaged in a multitude of endeavors to accumulate wealth and amplify his sway and authority. Thasmudyan and his adherents resorted to extortion, bribery, assassinations, robbery, slave trading, and any other malicious undertakings.
By the middle of the First Epoch, Thasmudyan had emerged as a formidable force to be reckoned with in the Gulimbor lands. His dedicated followers numbered in the tens of thousands and continued to expand. Unparalleled in personal power, Thasmudyan's undead armies posed a growing menace to the living. Many of his devoted flock had even begun to venerate him as a saintly figure.
Seeking to maintain equilibrium, as a counterbalance to Kebechet's growing influence, The Balance votes to elevate Thasmudyan to the status of a Higher Power. On 13 Witchrite 1001, during another Zenith of Darkness, Thasmudyan traversed the Temple of Ascension, becoming a Higher Power. The area where he attained divinity became permanently tainted, a location that would later be enshrined within the walls of the Basilica of Thasmudyan.
What they would not accomplish in life, they will bring to fruition as the Undead.
Caliguworm, "Service in Life, Service In Death"
In the Grim Harvest Crusade ( 1462 - 1464 ) , the fiendish minions of Hades were assailed by the formidable undead and goblin legions that would ultimately coalesce into the Black Tide of Thasmudyan.
The Dead Lord's reign shall be fleeting. I perceive no necessity for equilibrium or stagnation; the contest will progress towards total supremacy and perpetual sentience for those ready to accept the Ultimate Offering. You will bear the Black Banner against the adversaries in the west, that bastion of righteousness.
Thasmudyan, to Jairall - "Dead Lord Balance"
In the year 1464, the ruins of Zayr became the marshalling area for the undead armies that would rage across the lands during the Black Tide War, which spanned from 1465 to 1486.
On the realm of Bal-Kriav, Thasmudyan's sway is concentrated in regions of malevolence. During the Black Tide War, his divine authority rose substantially, temporarily elevating him to the rank of Lesser Power among the celestial hierarchy. However, when the Black Tide was vanquished in the Athenian Crusade and the Artery War, he was demoted back to the status of Minor Power.
The religious symbols of Thasmudyan are representations of vultures, hyenas, and worms. His more elaborate symbol depicts a decaying hyaenadon with a skeletal head, worms emerging from its eye sockets, and a vulture perched upon its back, gripping entrails in its beak. Thasmudyan is an esteemed practitioner of necromancy, possessing a vast repository of arcane secrets, necromantic spells, and rituals, all meticulously chronicled within a revered tome known as the Last Chapter.
