Every 77 years, the skies of Bal-Kriav are graced by the majestic Crillion Comet, and every 311 years, the gloomy clouds of Stygia are illuminated by primordial forces. Though many realms witness the comet's passage, only a select few comprehend its timeless purpose.

From afar, the Crillion Comet appears as an enormous rock burning through the Void. Beneath this celestial veil lies a sleek, cylindrical vessel miles in length, with a cross-section measuring half as wide. Crafted by Bruh Kreniik, this was the first voidship of the Age of Creation. Capable of traversing the vastness of space with remarkable speed, it was crewed by Lith-Crillion explorers tasked with observing the rapid evolution of worlds, monitoring them for any Primordial influences or other disturbances that may disrupt a world's natural development.

Bruh Kreniik's intrigue in surveilling the advancement of a realm following its Creation and "stocking" originated from scattered fragments that drifted across the Sea of Entropy. To his perspective, it appeared as though there had once been something present, organized and sophisticated, now dispersed across an ostensibly boundless expanse of energy currents and landmasses, debris fields, remnants of a bygone era.

"Musings of the Lost Age"

Following the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) and the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , the crew of the Crillion Comet received new directives. Known as the Codices of Civilization, these guidelines tasked the Lith-Crillion with continuing their role as catalogers, analyzers, and monitors of Creation. They were also charged with collecting any dangerous war materials left over from the aforementioned conflicts. During both wars, the ship and her Lith-Crillion crew, the sole race capable of piloting it, found themselves pressed into service, whether as a military transport or a refuge for those narrowly escaping extermination by a demonic army or a world torn asunder by an aberrant monstrosity akin to the Nine-Tongued Worm.

After the wars, the Lith-Crillion persisted in traversing the cosmos. They carried on the task of restoration, cataloging species, and vigilantly watching for malevolent forces. On certain planets, they were recognized merely as the Inspectors - angelic and enigmatic, perhaps even revered as deities. They would arrive and depart, vanishing from sight for years at a time. Conversely, on other worlds, they established permanent outposts, actively intervening in the affairs of the indigenous populace.

Near the end of the God Era, the Lith-Crillion learned of the magical armaments stored on the Isle of Arcana. Viewing these armaments as potential problems, and adhering to the Codices of Civilization, they planned to remove them from this island of the world Bal-Kriav. In 1 LE of the era named after them, the Lith-Crillion arrived to retrieve these forgotten relics. Instead of returning to their mother ship on its next passing, they remained on the Isle of Arcana. Over the next two thousand years, they launched numerous expeditions, establishing research centers across the world. However, incidents such as the Maziggandîm Conflict ( 348 LE - 355 LE ) led some to suggest the Lith-Crillion had become too involved with those they were meant to study, and had forgotten the Covenant's Codices of Civilization.

Until the Second Epoch, the Nil Koraaviik, authorities on matters pertaining to the stars, classified the Crillion Comet as a natural celestial body. They and other interested parties at Galzaras Watch sponsored an expedition to prove this theory. In 1457, the Marching Twenty was commissioned to explore the phenomenon. Those who returned lasted mere days, each perishing from an incurable degenerative disorder. The majority never made it off the comet. The group's expedition journals describe one area taken up by strange apparatuses, thousands of them, and an assortment of cloning tanks, birthing ponds, maturation chambers, and items rumored to be the province of Creationists. One theory for the Lith-Crillion's later disappearance is that the ship's birthing ponds ceased functioning. Subsequent research and expeditions to the vessel provided substantial evidence that the Lith-Crillion produced more of their kind solely on this ship. This also lent credence to the idea that the Lith-Crillion only experience the world around them as adults.

In the year 1534, the Golden Elite ventured into a section of the ship. Their objective was to locate one of the vessel's Rift Spanners.

It is an ark, a research center, a flying ship, but most importantly a locale to investigate the insects below. An engineering accomplishment rivaled only by a company of deities or an entire population of supra-gifted, extremely sophisticated humanoids.

Zarrek Lukko, from the Golden Elite Archives - "Crillion Comet, a Lith-Crillion Lab"

The Crillion Comet possesses stringent safeguards governing its utilization. Piloting the vessel necessitates a Lith-Crillion of equilibrated contemplations and independent volition. During periods of non-operation, which have spanned millennia, the ship dutifully traces its last trajectory, traversing the immense expanses of the Void via Rift Spanners.

Into the Lith-Crillion Era, the Crillion Comet continued to serve as a supply ship and collector of knowledge and relics. It supplied the Lith-Crillion research centers scattered across the Nawirrûs system. The Comet transported staff to new lands, but most importantly, it collected lore and dangerous relics left behind from the Creation War and the Demon Spawn War. Much of this material now resides in one of Bruh Kreniik's mountain vaults on a mysterious, unnamed world, hidden from even the gods. The Crillion Comet is still believed to possess powerful items and lore that never reached storage, which could cause problems if circulated.

Anecdote - Golden Elite

In 1534, adventurers from the Golden Elite embarked on a journey to the Crillion Comet. Their objective was to locate one of the ship's void-hopping Rift Spanners. This item was essential for traversing the vast distance between Bal-Kriav and the star Merioss. Once within firing range of this celestial body, they planned to launch an ominous dragon orb into it.

The Crillion Comet did not burn. The tail of the celestial body shimmered like cascading flames. Stretching several miles high and half as wide, it featured metallic plates shaped akin to immense fins. These fins seamlessly blended into the hull of an abandoned vessel with an otherworldly design and fabrication. This spherical segment consisted of a dull gray metal, massive in scale, easily spanning five miles in length and half that in cross-section.

I heard Captain Blickmite, our esteemed void navigator renowned for his mastery in charting the vast emptiness of the stars, engage in debate with my comrade. Aboard the vessel Atlas Glory, our own Admiral Girderhead, though outranking the captain, deferred to him on matters of void navigation. Girderhead voiced his concerns about proceeding to the center of the craft, a region that appeared to bear the marks of an explosive impact. He remarked to the captain, "It seems the craft has sustained damage akin to that inflicted by a Voice of Gith."

Captain Blacksmite inclined his head, "There are more formidable threats here than githyanki city-destroyers".

We arrived at LZ Falcon, the site of a recent explosion. Various bridges, constructed of metal, span the numerous decks throughout the area. To the north, a dense forest of vegetation extends into the distance.

Quick, recounting his escapades with the Golden Elite - "LZ Falcon"
