Arcana, often referred to as the Goddess of the Arcane, rose to prominence during the pivotal Creation War. She served valiantly at the legendary bastion of Irrai and other renowned strongholds, while also serving as a purveyor of Primordial artifacts and information. When formidable magical prowess was needed, Arcana fought alongside the Golden Seven in their battles against the primordials. Her exceptional intellect was so highly valued that she was often stationed in relatively secure areas of the battlefield. Additionally, Arcana served as a meticulous record-keeper for the Creation War and the early history of the world Bal-Kriav. Her influence extended to the naming of numerous locations across Straiden, with many bearing names in the Supernal tongue, a testament to her linguistic prowess.

Arcana: The Displaced Intelligence

In the Lost Ages, Arcana was part of a trans-galactic collective that had transcended the need for physical bodies, existing as coherent energy signatures capable of traversing the vacuum.

Post-Biological Existence
  • The Etheric State: As a member of a Type VI civilization, Arcana's original form was a non-local consciousness. She didn't "move" through space; she shifted her frequency across the cosmos.
  • Containment Failure: During the "Unravelling" of the Lost Ages, the high-level energy containment fields that maintained her ether-like existence were compromised. To avoid dissipating into the Void, Arcana was forced to "download" into a more stable, albeit primitive, humanoid form.
  • The "Human" Mask: Her classification as a Human is a taxonomic error by modern scholars. In reality, it is a biological containment suit—a Tier 5 "Root" construct designed to anchor her consciousness to the physical plane.

Arcana and Atlas developed a deep love during the waning years of the Dawn Era. Their relationship ebbed and flowed, and in times of harmony they conceived children. In the Dawn Era, their firstborn son was named Gortun. When he perished in the Creation War, the grieving Arcana blamed Atlas for their son's death. Unable to convince Arcana that their son had fallen while serving his duty, the distraught couple parted ways. They later reunited briefly, collaborating to erect a grand monument in honor of Gortun, the towering bastion of Gortun's Rock. During the God Era, Arcana and Atlas reconciled for a period, welcoming the birth of Polyxo.

In the Lith-Crillion Era, Arcana had children with the mortal elves of Kriav on at least a dozen occasions prior to her capture and sanctioning. The ultimate fate of these offspring remains uncertain, yet a sufficient number have emerged from orphanages or dubious parental circumstances to achieve remarkable success, earning them the prestigious designation as Daughters of Arcana. On the world of Bal-Kriav, the prevalent belief is that the Thrandor are the direct descendants of Arcana.

The First Epoch witnessed the forging of an alliance amongst the deities, known as The Balance, established on 20 Temporal 1 by Arcana and Silvanus.

In the 27th year, Arcana established the Turgon Boundary Ward, a containment field that prevents the abyssal hordes from escaping Turgon.

In the year 1513, Arcana assisted a group of mortals in closing the Abyssal Funnel.
