The Nine-Tongued Worm, also known as the Worm or the World Destroyer, was an aberrant monstrosity hailing from the realm of Chaos. It was perhaps the most lethal of all the primordial lords. As a being of Chaos, the Worm opposed the Powers of Creation responsible for the building of worlds. Consequently, he viewed Piranoth and other rogue primordials as adversaries to be vanquished once victorious in the Creation War. However, this principle seemed to have been more flexible when it came to creating soldiers for the conflict with the Nawirrûs Covenant. Like other primordial lords, he utilized entropic ponds to spawn minions, inadvertently giving rise to the illithid race in one such pool of liquid entropy.
On 1 Temporal 1501 DE, the World Destroyer, as it was known, initiated its attack on Sphere 411. This was the Battle of Šadullu, where an entire continent would be decimated, with Šadullu lifted and hurled towards the World Destroyer's gaping maw; a one-way rift back to the Sea of Entropy. The World Destroyer shattered the continent, but not the world. The Covenant generals Danzar-Khâl, Bal-Kriav, and Silvanus drove the primordial monstrosity away. In their epic confrontation between the gods and one of the top primordials, the Nine-Tongued Worm had one of its tongues severed. This tongue plummeted through the clouds, piercing the heart of the shattered continent and plunging into the ocean below (c.f. Drachmon ). The loss of its tongue caused the Nine-Tongued Worm to retreat, forcing the closure of the rift in its belly and its withdrawal back into Chaos. After this battle, Sphere 411 became one of the front-line worlds of the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) .
On 3 Warper 8612 DE, the Nine-Tongued Worm assassinated the Prime Architect. This was done because the Prime Architect refused to align himself with the tenets of the Primordial Mandate - returning the works of Creation to Chaos. Following his demise, a son was born. This son, Primus, emerged from the Prime Architect's heart, the Primus Hexaconta.
Because of his ceaseless machinations and grave menace, Phalgas, Athena, and Danzar-Khâl set out to track him down. During the Demon Spawn War, they caught up with him and methodically wore him down from a distance. The pursuers utilized a potent poison to impede his movements, allowing them to approach safely without being swallowed or constricted. Legend has it that Phalgas delivered the killing blow to the Nine-Tongued Worm, shortly after which he added the domain of time to his portfolio (cf. divine power). In his struggle against the three demi-god-status deities, the Nine-Tongued Worm sensed his impending doom. He cast a spell upon himself, such that when he perished, the rift in his abdomen would explode, piercing the Web of Magic and breaching into Bal-Kriav. Before his demise, he contacted his "overly intelligent" disembodied thinker Ingu'lumin and ordered him to aid another that would soon emerge through a rift. The death of the Nine-Tongued Worm gave rise to the Primordial Storm. For a time during the Demon Spawn War, this perpetual maelstrom of entropy contained a rift linking the Abyss to the world of Bal-Kriav; in this way, the Nine-Tongued Worm's conflict with the gods and angels, begun in the Creation War, continued as Yeenoghu's demons battled the same foes in the Demon Spawn War.
