At the heart of Orthrump stands the colossal marble edifice known as Skurnskalf - the Palace of the Heavens. This sprawling complex comprises numerous interconnected buildings, with column-studded walkways traversing the expansive grounds. The most impressive structures within the palace are the massive domed buildings. These domes span hundreds of feet in diameter and reach equally impressive heights. The largest of these is the dome that crowns the throne room of the Cloudwalker Emperor. Soaring 400 feet high and measuring 1000 feet across, this grand dome is supported by the necks of ten massive stone dragon statues, which serve as the arching framework. During ceremonial occasions and the arrival of diplomatic embassies, the emperor unleashes the Brothers of Zephyr, a pair of cloud dragons that gracefully fly about the inner dome, inspiring awe in all who witness their mesmerizing display.
The marble structures that comprise this marvel - the walls, ceilings, and pavements - encompass a diverse array of vibrant hues and varieties.
The lush greenery of the Issk hills, and the diverse, multicolored marble of Bullvar Ika, where a rosy hue blends with white or shines vibrantly with deep red and silver flowers. There is also an abundance of porphyry, sprinkled with brilliant stars, that once weighed down the boats of the Horass Lake. You may encounter an emerald green from the distant lands of Yul, and the glistening marble with undulating veins, carved from the deep recesses of the Frear hills, showcasing slanting streaks of blood-red and livid white. From the clefts of the Ketha Mounds emerges a crocus-colored marble sparkling with gold, as well as the remarkable crystals from the Breen Crags, like milk splashed over a surface of shining black. The precious onyx, glowing with an internal golden light, and the marble from the far realm of the Sylvan Kingdom, ranging from a fresh green akin to the sea or emerald stone, to a blue cornflower hue amidst the grass, with drifts of fallen snow.
