These creatures possess an exceptional ability to detect the presence of sentient beings. On Kreighton, they are reared on farms and then dispatched to undergo lobotomization. This procedure effectively eliminates their predatory and malevolent tendencies, transforming them into highly versatile "guard dogs." Rather than relying on scent to identify intruders, they can now mentally perceive the existence of other thinking minds.
