The Barad Ruld is a bay situated along the northern perimeter of the Brucrumus mainland. It marks the terminus where the waters of the Eldorien river converge with the vast Sea of Nautrek.
Barad Ruld is the Giant term for Dread Song. It was given this name due to the witch Merfolk and their Harpy subordinates that have long prowled its waters. During the Horgon Era, the giant-led Gadstill Dynasty empire sought to expand eastward across the river Eldorien. Initially, they utilized barges to transport settlers, soldiers, and supplies across the bay. However, they suffered greatly from harpy charms and the witches' mastery of the seas and its creatures. Eventually, they constructed the great Svarmaer bridge to circumvent this obstacle.
In the Second Epoch, the bay witnessed a substantial increase in maritime traffic. These were warships and merchant vessels from nearby kingdoms as well as distant lands. The surge in traffic through the region prompted collaborative efforts to maintain the flow of trade. This resulted in the construction of artificial islands, which were defended by individuals trained to counter both magical enchantments and druidic sorcery. By the Third Epoch, the area's harpies and merfolk had joined the civilized world, engaging in trade with those they had once preyed upon.
