In the Age of Creation, Bruh Kreniik learned how to transform the raw energy of Chaos into the power of creation. This led to the emergence of islands of order amidst a sea of chaos. These islands became life-sustaining realms, and according to Bruh Kreniik, required sentient beings to go forth and tame them. Poseidon, in contrast to the Primordial thinking of the time (which was to undo the work of the Creationists), seeded some of these newly formed worlds with his own creations. One of these was the Merfolk, modeled on the Theegan and then enhanced for the depths of the sea.
In the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , merfolk were divided, with approximately half aligning with their Creator and the remainder joining the Nawirrûs Covenant. One of the most renowned merfolk heroes of this conflict, and a future deity, is Sathel.
Aligning with the celestial beings and deities was our sole sensible choice. The objective of the majority of Primordial Lords was to rend asunder all that was being constructed, restoring Order into the bosom of Chaos, and for us a world torn apart would have signaled our demise.

In the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , the merfolk allied with the Quara'tun Covenant. After this conflict, and by the conclusion of the God Era, the merfolk had dispersed across the oceans of Bal-Kriav and numerous other realms. Their level of civilization and disposition vary significantly from one oceanic domain to the next and from world to world. On Bal-Kriav, the merfolk are divided between the faiths of Poseidon and Sathel, and no undersea realm has long maintained churches devoted to both deities.
