On 22 War March 403 LE, this eerie locale was created when the necromancer Halavile Freydis destroyed a magical staff containing a substantial store of negative energy. Instead of exploding outward with all its remaining power, the staff drew in all the negative energy surrounding it. This annihilated hundreds of undead fighting to defend their master. Unable to contain such influx, Halavile was blown into a million fragments. The resulting explosion opened a canyon in the glacier. Halavile's undead army was eradicated, as were most of those besieging his stronghold. The explosion altered the invisible energy that flows through the area. These ribbons of energy, a product of the marvel COA 411, bent around the canyon, severing its connection with the Web of Magic. The region became an arcane void where no magic functions, a place of dead magic.
Today, Halavile is a haunted realm, a place of lost souls where the anguished cries and spectral voices of the fallen goliath and eldritch giants echo through the depths.
