The hilly region, known to the local giant population as Hatyr Geir, is composed of granite and vibrant red crystal formations, interspersed with mining tunnels, remnants of old mining settlements, and newer outposts fortified with cannons. The rich crimson crystal endemic to this area became a valuable resource during the reign of the Aslauthroa (9 HE - 1891 HE). This precious material was used to adorn the grand halls of Griddrir, line the floor of the Moonstone Throne, and crown the domains of the Storm Dukes.

After the downfall of Aslauthroa, the region was bitterly contested before being ultimately forsaken due to the scarcity of magic and labor necessary to retrieve Hatyr Geir's highly coveted crystal; what the excavators referred to as the Aslauthroan Coin.

In the Second Epoch, the Khazarkar Empire expanded westward across Cinazan in a vast land acquisition, from "sea to sea". While constructing Barun-Mitân and repelling the native population, the ancient mines and colossal citadels of Aslauthroa were gradually brought under a degree of control. Presently, the Aslauthroan Coin of Hatyr Geir is dispatched eastward for use in the ornamentation of temples, new monuments, and the entryways to the residences of the affluent.

Allured by the region's captivating, crystalline allure, Hatyr Geir is home to numerous Xorn. Challenging to contend with, they have posed a persistent issue for miners since the era of Aslauthroa.
