The hills that bisect Caorpu'tzor are so heavily fortified that they no longer resemble hills, but instead a continuous wall with towers and strong points. This fortified hill wall, known as the Inur Guld, spans a length of ten miles. It was constructed to serve as a barrier against the dinosaurs, demons, and other foes that roam the plains north and south of the region. The Mezrack tribe fortified this area to establish a secure communication artery between their holds in the hills and low mountains to the east and west. Over time, they built an Underdark link, situated a hundred feet below the wall, which offers greater security than the surface route.
The road traverses the top of this fortified wall, crossing bridges and occasionally passing through the walls and towers of Inur Guld. These enclosed sections of the roadway were constructed to safeguard merchants during times of assault. The threats may come from ground-based raids by humanoid forces or attacks by dinosaurs. However, the most perilous danger arises from above, as flying dinosaurs such as pterodactyls pose a constant threat. The walls were built to withstand the assaults of what appear to be demons engineered to function as living siege engines. While demon attacks are uncommon, they are becoming increasingly frequent as Demogorgon finds ways to deploy his forces from Turgon.
