The work of a Creationist named Balthioul gave rise to the Gorantin, a species engineered for jungle environments. Evolved from primitive apes, they possess an intellect marginally inferior to the typical Tragaran, tremendous ogre-like strength, and explosive bursts of agility.
In the westernmost reaches of Midrêth, they can be discovered in the lush jungles of Sirketh and as far east as the expansive Ma'Ohari. They are a nomadic folk who hold nature in the highest esteem, never lingering long enough to deplete game and resources.
In the God Era, the Gorantin served as soldiers for Talisid and the Five Companions. As the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) swept across numerous regions and worlds, they were dispatched to join various Covenant generals. Silvanus commanded one such contingent in the Ma'Ohari Region. The descendants of this army are the Elinwur.
Gorantin are more akin to the Tragaran and Dulun-Khâl in their alignments, gravitating towards law, good, and neutrality.
Of impressive size, a Gorantin's typical motion is on all four limbs. Adopting an upright stance diminishes their range of movement by 2 inches. Gorantins excel at traversing dense woodlands and jungle-like terrain through brachiation.
Gorantins are exceedingly uncommon, with the vast majority of individuals never having encountered them or being aware of their existence. A gorantin wandering through a city could prompt the guards to be summoned, believing it to be an "escaped zoo animal" or that a circus has arrived in town. Gorantin populations are concentrated within two regions, Ma'Ohari and Sirketh. In total, there may be as few as 50,000 of them across Midrêth.
