In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the Knudmid utilized powdered Xorn Cysts in the fabrication of ceramic. This process culminated in the creation of an exceptionally durable ceramic known as Ceratimus.

Ceratimus is a ceramic-based substance that rivals the strength of sturdy metals. Originally a closely guarded secret, this material is now produced by the Pyrmidian Ghouls, diverse githyanki factions, and the XI Institute.

Ceratimus is unaffected by electrical currents. When utilized to craft half-plate or superior armor, it grants the wearer energy resistance - electricity 5. Additionally, it weighs half as much as conventional armor. Ceratimus can only be employed to fabricate armor types suitable for ceramic molds; such as shields, breastplates, half-plate, and full plate. Armor composed of this material is classified one category lower, so full plate is typically considered heavy armor, but a ceratimus suit is treated as medium armor. This reduced categorization only applies to arcane spell failure, armor check penalty, and movement. It does not impact the maximum dexterity bonus, as the armor remains bulky in nature. The same adjustments apply to a breastplate, which would fall into the light armor category.

Ceratimus is additionally utilized in the production of the barrels for energy weapons as well as the cloning tanks at the Soul Storage Depot.
