There are two types of airborne vessels: skyships and voidships. Both have existed in some form since the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), though they were scarce even in those times, remaining so for millennia. The technology to construct these buoyant ships, along with their Engines, became more widespread after the pioneering flight trials of Balforn in 1176.
Skyships are propelled by the wind, a combination of the wind and an engine, or solely by an engine. In the majority of instances, a skyship is unable to levitate.
