In the Battle of Burakkhelig, an Akthol-Tharag army was surrounded. Their forces were crumbling under the relentless assaults of Dao, earth archons, stone giants, and other earthen monstrosities of Chaos. Confronted with the grim prospects of capture or demise, a valiant bayonet charge by the Iron Fusillers bought them precious time to complete their fervent supplications to Danzar-Khâl. On 28 Artifice 1703, in violation of the Mandate of the Heavens, Danzar-Khâl answered their prayers. A brilliant, blazing hammer akin to the fiery fury of Merioss crashed down from the heavens, obliterating the hill of Burakkhelig where the dwarves made their final stand. The thunderous impact of a hundred lightning bolts echoed through the valley, kicking up a suffocating cloud of pulverized dust and rock that engulfed the dwarves and their Rilirthad foes. The Rilirthad hordes bore the brunt of the devastation, with over two thousand of their troops plummeting into an ever-widening chasm. Their network of subterranean passages leading to and beneath the battlefield collapsed, claiming the lives of countless more.
King Gollaium and the artifact Grongak's Pick were obliterated by the formidable power of Danzar-Khâl. The Divine Hammer of Danzar-Khâl fractured the dwarven relic and unleashed such immense energy that it formed the Delvarhaast chasm.
The divine event concluded the Battle of Burakkhelig; however, the Rilirthad persisted in their war against the dwarves (see Eradication War ) in various other regions.
