Map Cinduk

The rise of Râpha-Sûn under Sussgurd rule brought them into contact with Ethenoran. Initially, this was a peaceful relationship, with both sides benefiting from trade. However, when Ethenoran began expanding its territories in an arc, effectively constraining Râpha-Sûn's future expansion, tensions arose. Ethenoran's power was centered in Holentur. Râpha-Sûn sent prospectors into the western tracts of Holentur's forests, seeking the fabled Ethenoran Veins, a plentiful source of adamantine, a metal that Râpha-Sûn could only obtain from the Ethenorans, but which they sold as if it were scarce. The wood elves of Holentur viewed adamantine as a sacred metal blessed by the gods, as it granted them a fey-like power to teleport between the trees, not through the metal itself, but by drinking the water that ran near it. Ethenoran initially responded patiently, escorting the prospectors out and trying not to kill the trespassers. However, Râpha-Sûn grew persistent, sending in digging equipment and security forces. These incursions occurred at multiple points, with each group of the Ethenoran confederacy dealing with them in their own way. The localized conflicts eventually escalated, turning the affair into a full-blown war.

By the war's conclusion, the fey of Ethenoran had all departed Holentur. The wood elves, endowed with the capacity to traverse the woodland with enchanted elegance, were either slain or compelled to return to Râpha-Sûn in shackles.
