Fragning originated as a marketplace situated between the surface and the depths below. The giants and humanoids of the region were gradually being incorporated into the Gnemdos Trade Network. This commercial exchange would inspire many to abandon the course of raiding and pillaging in favor of more refined pursuits.

In the Year 120, the Horde of Tamoroc raided this location, slaying all within. They then set the place ablaze and encamped the area for several years, subsisting on the abundant dire goats and dire sheep that freely roamed the surrounding hills. This jara horde was eventually driven off by a sizable force of earth giants, stone giants, ogres, and other humanoids. After reclaiming the site, Chieftain Vaesvild appointed his son as the town's governor. This son retained the title of chieftain for only a decade before falling victim to an internal conflict. Legends tell that he whispered a curse, declaring that none shall rule Fragning for longer than he. This prophecy has proven true, with no governor ever maintaining their position for more than a decade.

The inhabitants of this region largely maintain to themselves, tending to livestock and extracting iron and other minerals from the adjacent hills. Fragning is renowned for its use of cave bears as war creatures.
