In the Year 77, a formidable Jara Horde penetrated the Singarban Forest. Confronted by the relentless invaders, the Theegan inhabitants of the region retreated to the secure confines of Synnbarri's canyons. Persistently harassed, two years later, under the leadership of the Calijoth, they established the Hazrith settlement.

Like most areas of what is now called the Shadow Rift, Hazrith is a city enshrouded in darkness and gloom. This is largely attributed to the city's numerous shadow rifts, extensive utilization of shadow magic, and a general inclination to maintain shadowy and dim surroundings. The Shadow Rift contains 33 permanent rifts connecting the world of Bal-Kriav with its sinister moon, Deaths Kindle. Ten of these rifts are situated within Hazrith, serving as a source of shadow energy and a conduit for trade goods from the other side. One of the more intriguing imports is the unique stone, Kindlite, found only on Deaths Kindle.

Hazrith sprawls across the expansive floor and walls of the Shadow Rift, stretching for several miles from north to south. Numerous bridges connect the canyon walls and the tiers of the upper city environs. In contrast to the cities of Tragarans, Kriavfahliil, and many other races, the Ink-Shads gauge status by the lowliness of one's dwelling rather than its height. Consequently, the most affluent and influential citizens occupy the lowest regions of Hazrith.
