The fall of Bathor resulted in a significant number of casualties. Most of the deceased were destined to join the Black Tide as zombies and skeletons. Those who posed a particular challenge in defeating were given special consideration. One such group were the Nermanean slingers who had defended Bathor. Highly skilled, they had managed to kill numerous officers and nearly eliminate two Black Tide leaders. When Bathor fell, the captured and slain slingers were transformed into a specialized unit of undead known as the Knuckle-Bone Slingers. Comprising a company-sized force, this unit consisted of ju-ju zombies, wights, enhanced skeletons, and ghouls, all empowered through necromancy.
Serving under Dax, by the conclusion of the Artery War (1546 - 1554), they had been reduced to an undermanned platoon.
Today, this unit, having been rebuilt and made even more formidable, now patrols the walls of Mularûn and occasionally undertakes stealthy missions.
