Nechi is situated in the Cabaranda vale. Its territory lies at the crossroads of three empires - Zeluk, Altocumuli, and the Ancalimë. Prior to the establishment of Nechi, the Cabaranda valley frequently served as a battlefield for these empires. When not engaged in conflict, the peoples of these empires projected their colonies into the valley, seeking to create a buffer zone and set up early warning outposts. During extended periods of relative tranquility, numerous towns and villages were established in the area.

The Nechi nation was established when the frequently-plundered frontier settlements and communities of these realms united to cease the ransacking and safeguard their concerns.

The peoples of Nechi comprise the diverse legacies of all these empires - Ancalimë wood elves, Altocumuli orcs and stone giants, and Zeluk hobgoblins. The Nechi populace predominantly embodies a chaotic libertarian ethos, which inherently cultivates corruption and graft. The borders of the Nechi republic remain fluid, with limited policing of the comings and goings of creatures.

The Nechi maintain robust patrols comprising rangers, hounds, and fey beings to safeguard their territories from raiders or assaults by their adversaries to the north, the Altocumuli, and their malevolent neighbors to the south, the Zeluk. Occasionally, they launch retaliatory raids against the Cúthalion when evidence suggests the elves are sowing discord within Nechi lands.

The Nechi laws provide citizenship and safeguards to the majority of entities that venture into their territories. Their neighboring communities assert these statutes to be a method of amplifying the population and ultimately the military force of the Nechi nation. Conversely, the Cúthalion maintain that the purpose of cultivating a substantial population is to establish a more robust tax foundation and productive capability for the Nechi.
