Headquartered in the city of Argruxiel is the necromantic institution known as Úrwath. This government-sponsored establishment is dedicated to the practice and progression of necromantic arts. The school welcomes both priests and mages as students. Within Úrwath, there exists a specialized division called Celephrelwedh. Members of this group revere the deity Krak-Oth. The most esteemed Celephrelwedh adherents are bestowed, through the grace of Krak-Oth, the ability to create death knights.
The High Command acquires numerous undead from Úrwath. Consequently, a thriving trade of corpses flourishes within the Orchish Empire. It is a long-standing tradition for Githirmil to be cremated on a funeral pyre - yet the allure of plunder occasionally compels one to depart from this custom.
The school acquired significant political influence within the Orchish Empire following the defeat of the Black Tide during the Artery War (1546 - 1554). It was at this juncture that the training and education of the select few Orchish necromancers and humanoids expanded tremendously. Many creatures, including necromancers and more intelligent undead, fled northward into the Orchish Empire rather than being slain in a losing battle. Some were enticed to join the school of Úrwath, with a handful becoming instructors and contributing their vast knowledge of necromancy to the institution's libraries.
Úrwath is among the limited locales that engage in the production of death knights. Prominent death knights cultivated by the Celephrelwedh include Monty the Mad and Lazarus.
