Armigûr, the son of Khôni, was raised along the southern borders of Azrik where it intersects the Hive region. For as long as any Minotaur can recall, this borderland has endured relentless bug attacks. Armigûr lost a portion of his right arm, his sword arm, while fighting one of the bug species that emerge from the Hive. Though it possesses a technical scientific name, the troops refer to them as eviscerators. These creatures come in various sizes, but the one that overpowered Armigûr was a cockroach-like, pony-sized insect equipped with a pair of mandibles capable of severing a thick bronze sheet.
The lower half of Armigûr's arm constitutes the same mandible that severed a portion of his limb. Upon regaining consciousness in a field hospital, he discovered a note affixed to the extremity of his mandible:
Ba’lith has been honored with your service
signed Emperor Raxcvillibus Dumu-loc
He was unsure how to feel about the mandible grafted onto his arm stump or if the summons truly came from the emperor himself or was merely a standard military order. Nonetheless, his service in the infantry had come to an end. With a sharp mandible in place of an arm, he had attempted a career in pit fighting, but his attachment was deemed unfit for regular matches, permitted only in fights to the death. Armigûr abandoned the notion of pit fighting and responded to a special call-up, summoning those who wished to join a daring raid led by none other than the emperor himself. This was a recruitment drive to crew the Pillar of Horns for its deployment to the Cinazan Front.
