Sakazrân Garbanâth was the founder of the Eldritch Conclave. He and other members of this mage guild were responsible for a significant portion of the cataclysmic occurrences that afflicted Gulimbor.
In his formative years, Sakazrân experienced a rift with the monarchical government and resolved to enact new rule within the First Khazarkar Empire. He believed the stagnation and moral deterioration of the empire stemmed from the inbreeding among the families comprising the Minâth-Nôrî. To remedy this, he launched his own political campaign and assembled some of the most powerful mages of the First Khazarkar Empire under the banner of the Eldritch Conclave.
When the Eldritch Conclave overthrew the monarchy (Year 993) and established a magocracy in its place, war followed against the Rogue States. The powers of the magocracy went unchecked, and the mages recklessly manipulated the Weave with little regard for the consequences. The lands and people suffered from tears in the Web of Magic, leading to the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203). Ultimately, the peoples of Gulimbor were compelled to flee their homes and seek new dwellings in other regions of the world. This massive migration became known as the Great Exodus (998 - 1017).
Even though Sakazrân was malevolent at the time, he grew despondent with the destruction that he and the Eldritch Conclave had inflicted upon the once resplendent lands of Gulimbor. For over two centuries, he pleaded with the mortal Aredhel and prayed to The Balance for guidance in restoring the splendor of his homeland. His pleas and prayers were finally answered - he was redeemed, purged of any lingering vestiges of evil, and informed that the process of restoration would be arduous and that his ways must embrace nature. Sakazrân embarked on a campaign to reestablish the natural order and pristine landscape of ancient Gulimbor. On 12 Warper 1426, Sakazrân became the Nature Protectorate for Gulimbor.
Sakazrân's initial step was to stabilize the tumultuous weather patterns of Gulimbor. This was accomplished through the destruction of an artifact known as the Sceptre of Phenul-Tamrâk. The elimination of this item resulted in the expansion of the Barândîr glacier. Over the course of millennia, nature and the consequences of the artifact's destruction have revitalized portions of the region to their former grandeur.
