The Sceptre of Phenul-Tamrâk was a symbol of power for the First Khazarkar Empire. In 426, it was crafted for King Phenul-Tamrâk by the court wizard Bânizgar. It served as the insignia of rank for the empire's leaders for over 500 years. As the might of the empire expanded, the power of the sceptre escalated accordingly. The origins of the sceptre's status as an artifact remain obscure, but when it survived an accidental drop from a tower unscathed, tales of its remarkable resilience proliferated.
In the Year 993, the Eldritch Conclave orchestrated a shift in the political leadership of the First Khazarkar Empire. Sakazrân Garbanâth assumed control of the scepter and concealed the artifact within one of his intricate labyrinths.
Centuries after the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203), Sakazrân, now a lich and a Nature Protectorate of Gulimbor, discovered that destroying the Sceptre of Phenul-Tamrâk could help stabilize the chaotic weather patterns across Gulimbor. This unnatural weather was one of the enduring consequences of the Gulimbor Cataclysm.
In 1443, the artifact was annihilated near the heart of Barândîr. The primordial Geb reportedly assisted Sakazrân in this endeavor. Upon the item's destruction, Geb sustained minor injuries and lost one of his fingers in the ensuing blast. This severed digit was never recovered and likely remains lost in the icy expanses of the glacier. Sakazrân was also wounded, losing his hand, which a foraging frost giant discovered years later. This hand has become an artifact in its own right, known as the Hand of Sakazrân. The obliteration of the Sceptre of Phenul-Tamrâk caused the glacier to expand by 300%, encroaching all the way into Hedrac. Over the subsequent three decades, the temperature fluctuations and stormy conditions of Gulimbor began to return to normalcy.
