Gartan was one of the numerous offspring of Lukoon. On one occasion, while in his father's company, they engaged in a card game. The palace rule explicitly prohibited any form of cheating; however, beyond its confines, the accepted modus operandi was deception and dishonesty. Gartan was caught in the act of cheating and admonished by Lukoon, yet he persisted in his deceitful conduct. Ultimately, Lukoon's anger escalated to the point that he unsheathed his sword and severed Gartan's hand. He then cast the severed limb out of the palace, where it fell through the clouds and vanished into Limbo.

The Scion Stump of Lukoon is Gartan's misplaced hand. This item is a minor magical artifact. The individual seeking to utilize it must detach their own hand and replace it with Gartan's slender, elongated fingers. Upon doing so, the Stump will affix itself, granting the new owner access to its powers. It enhances the chances of rolling a natural 20 or natural 1 by 1, effectively treating a 19 as a 20 and a 2 as a 1. Additionally, it augments the wearer's luck to 18. Should a creature fail a saving throw, they are permitted to roll their luck or a 2d20 roll. If successful, they are granted another saving throw against the attack.

The item additionally imbues the creature with the gambling proficiency. The Scion Stump of Lukoon is part of a collection of artifacts that, when assembled, form a renowned artifact designated as Sig Mak Gan.
