In the Creation War, the primordial lord Talos engaged the archangel Zephuros in battle within the Morteban sector. In their final confrontation, Talos overpowered Zephuros, demanding his surrender. Rather than yield to this Covenant enemy, Zephuros activated a spell that tore open a rift between Bal-Kriav and The Void. This rift into the cosmos sucked everything in the vicinity into it, annihilating Zephuros's already battered army and decimating those under Talos's command. Although Zephuros's demise eradicated an entire primordial army, it failed to achieve its primary objective of slaying Talos. This was due to Talos's foresight in warding himself with the Teleport Trigger spell, which activated when he neared death, whisking him away from the raging vortex of devastation where rocks and debris broke apart and pulverized everything drawn into it. As a consequence of Zephuros's demise, Talos gained dominion over the storm domain. The Zephuros Mark was created from the noble archangel's remains.
Noble sacrifice is an action undertaken by exceptionally mighty benevolent entities. It serves as a last-ditch strategy, for the creation of a miracle akin to the one witnessed at Zephuros Mark marks one's ultimate demise, with no possibility of return, as one's very soul is forfeited for the greater good that will ensue.
