Old Khazarkar was the original language of the Khazarkars. It was a language specifically designed for them by their Furrouth educators. It was constructed upon Jannti - the language of the geniekind. The two are so closely linked that one familiar with either can broadly comprehend the other.
The archaic Khazarkar tongue was progressively supplanted during the First Epoch. This transition occurred as Khazarkar shamans began espousing and imparting what they deemed a more enlightened language. At this pivotal juncture in Khazarkar history, the entire populace resided within the Gulimbor region, largely under the guidance of these spiritual leaders. The shamans instructed their people in the use of Nidurrâb, a language they had learned from a revered Lith-Crillion relic known as the Agêrdul.
Two centuries later, Nidurrâb had become widely spoken among the Khazarkars. Old Khazarkar had fallen out of common usage. Most Khazarkar families had adopted family names from the Nidurrâb language. However, some families retained their original names, such as Dras'ee, Dumu-loc, and Hama-Ulmar, which are of Old Khazarkar origin. Similarly, the terms Terrant and Corralum, referring to distinct groups within the Khazarkar people, are also derived from Old Khazarkar.
Ushgergoon addresses Rax in flawless Khazarkar, a tongue he has not heard in centuries. "The day is ours." This is an ancient salutation from the time before the First Epoch, when Khazarkar denoted not only a people, but their language as well. In subsequent eras, Khazarkar shamans elected to replace their language with Nidurrâb. Some assert this was to emulate the Lith-Crillion, a supposedly superior race, while others claim it stemmed from an artifact containing a Lith-Crillion desiring eternal life. Darker renditions of the tale suggest this trapped soul manipulated its user and others to adopt its manner of speech. At that time, the Khazarkar shamans were revered as just below their deity Set, so the populace dutifully complied. After several centuries, Nidurrâb had become their native tongue, and the old Khazarkar language faded into obscurity.
