In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), the efreet served the primordials as tacticians, advisors, generals, and in other positions of influence and prestige. Since efreet are most commonly neutral in alignment (following their creator Kossuth), those who fought in the Creation War often found themselves in situations where their morality would be tested - especially when serving under the more wicked primordials. Those who lacked the fortitude to stay the course became a sub-type of efreet called the Furrouth. The Furrouth became chaotic evil. After the Creation War, they were rounded up and compelled to labor on the Endless Wall. Over the course of decades, the emanations of Law from this wall altered their morality from chaotic to lawful. Once they had become lawful, they were released from imprisonment. Many of these lawful evil efreet now worship Surtur.

When Set created the Corralum in 260 GE, the Furrouth were brought in, instructing them in industry and other matters. During the Otriring Rebalancing (255 LE), the Khazarkars and the Furrouth were driven from the subterranean reaches of Maenedhel. In the ensuing chaos, the Furrouth were attacked by those seeking to avenge past wrongs. Upon learning that Set's priests had instigated these attacks, the Furrouth decided it was best to part ways. They ventured westward and descended into the subterranean realm. Today, the Furrouth of Goth-Dyvermoir and across Karterus are descendants of those who once inhabited Maenedhel.

The citizens of Cinderfall are descendants or migrants from the incandescent realm of Muspelheim. They have arrived in Bal-Kriav through the Glothreth Rift.
