Kossuth, a Primordial, possesses an unparalleled grasp of fire and unwavering control over it. He is the father of Surtur and Baltalas. During the Creation War, the trio engaged in battle against the Nawirrûs Covenant, with one side seeking to spread Law across Nawirrûs and the other aiming to return everything to the realm of Chaos.
Kossuth maintains a neutral alignment, opposing those who employ fire for destructive purposes, like Surtur, and even purification by holy fire as practiced by some of Phalgas's priests. Kossuth's profound detestation of his son Surtur stems from the God Era, when Surtur and Ares slew his son Baltalas during the war to seize Muspelheim. Over time, Ares was forgiven, for he acted in accordance with his innate nature to wage war, while Surtur was not, as he had been motivated by greed and a desire for greater power, thereby upsetting the balance with his intent to eradicate chaos from Muspelheim.
In 1640 DE, Kossuth created the efreet. This was accomplished by harnessing the fiery energies from Chaos and life energy trapped within the Life Fan. Similarly, in 1841 DE, Kossuth successfully created a new race from captured lizardfolk. These captives, unable to endure the world's heat and dryness, were subjected to experimentation in the hopes of prolonging their miserable lives. Kossuth infused the subjects with liquid primordial fire, or the very essence of fire, giving rise to the first of the firenewts. When it was discovered how easily Kossuth had accomplished this feat, surpassing any other's knowledge of fire, Surtur ordered him to create more. As Kossuth was not a Primordial Lord like Surtur, he could not refuse without facing an agonizing death. Kossuth's proselytizers claim that their lord's intention was solely to save the lives of the lizardfolk sent to him as slave workers, not to initiate a larger program. However, the program did indeed expand, with Surtur hoping to deploy tens of thousands of firenewts as a Creation War vanguard, using them to absorb magic and missile-fire before the arrival of his fire giants.
In the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , Kossuth was compelled into assisting the primordials in reclaiming the Powers of Creation and undoing the established order. After the war, Kossuth went into hiding until it was discovered that he was not on the list of those requiring indoctrination, imprisonment, or punishment.
In the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , he aligned with the angels and deities of the Quara'tun Covenant.
