The Kossuth Aqueduct is a complex system of dams, canals, and aqueducts built to evaporate seawater entering one of Karterus's Tier 2 subterranean regions. The water is evaporated from superheated columns of iron, baked stone, or directly exposed to lava. The heat for this expansive network of evaporation and pressure stations originates from several volcanic areas. Some of the water is forced upwards to Berolaz and Huzar-Arân, where it becomes part of the Galsour river. This river then empties into Lake Hatosvir, whose overflow is redirected back downward through the Kossuth Aqueduct due to erosion and digging. This water flow is thus a circular system, with evaporation or loss replenished by the various pressure stations.
The Kossuth Aqueduct was constructed during the God Era by Kossuth and his followers. It was built to counter Surtur's plans to control the Underdark regions beneath Karterus and potentially the surface regions as well (the Goth-Dyvermoir empire leads the effort to control the Ma'Ohari surface region). This conflict between Surtur and Kossuth has persisted even after they both became Higher Powers. Today, it is a clash between the zealots of Kolprunn and Kossuth's followers in Belfdagny. The latter utilizes the steaming waters pushed upward from the Kossuth Aqueduct to create conditions favorable for firenewts, steam mephits, fire giants, and others who thrive in extreme heat. The aqueduct also feeds the river Galsour, which is used to counter the lava rivulets flowing from the Ofli Hrolmir lava river. These lava springs are creeping southeast towards Belfdagny and are under the control of Surtur's zealots based in Kolprunn.
