In the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) , the primordials pulled a colossal landmass through a rift. Designated the Isle of Angvild, it carried an army of storm and cloud giants under the leadership of Talos. According to Warvild's grand strategy, the purpose of Angvild was for it to serve as a mobile base, drifting across the Bal-Kriav 's oceans like a great sailing vessel. Fortunately for those battling the primordials, the Covenant, the island soon found itself lodged in an undersea mountain.

Talos visited Poseidon, Geb visited Poseidon, and both then visited him. Poseidon was the sole individual possessing the necessary resources to undertake the extensive underwater work that would necessitate the efforts of many thousands over several months. Yet, Poseidon consistently rebuffed their requests, asserting that the resources expended to extract Angvild far exceeded the benefits of a floating island. He elaborated on the issues presented by the island's immense size, the hazards posed by storms and currents, and the challenges of traversing the turbulent seas - all of which would ultimately lead to the same predicament. Poseidon would then berate them, urging them to abandon Warvild 's Grand Strategy and instead join forces with him if they were genuinely serious about ensuring their survival.

With Angvild moored, and the war necessitating their departure, Talos and Geb departed alongside their armies. Prior to their exit, they set in motion a contingency strategy. Recognizing Angvild's foundation comprised substantial veins of Jurungen, workers were tasked with excavating a sufficient quantity to construct a floating landmass.

On the 12th of Kindle, 8776 DE, a long-gestating project finally reached its culmination. Talos made his triumphant return to Angvild on the day his sky-bound domain parted ways with the land below. Christened Krarkauk after one of the enchanted, colossal pickaxes employed in its creation, the floating isle drifted upon the winds like a ethereal cloud.

Talos's ambition of using Krarkauk as a flying fortress against the fortresses of the Covenant surrounding the rifts at Regadnîn never came to fruition. The Creation War was nearing its conclusion. Captured and exiled from Bal-Kriav for a millennium, Talos's final act of defiance was to set Krarkauk adrift on the winds. Aboard Krarkauk, former soldiers and civilians, predominantly cloud and storm giants, traversed numerous lands, establishing dozens of settlements along their journey.

In 712 LE, for reasons still unknown, the sky-isle of Krarkauk came to a halt in the Ice Cap region. Situated in a frigid part of the world, the crops failed, and Krarkauk's population dwindled. However, over the subsequent century, an influx of natives and local fauna commenced a gradual recovery. Consequently, burgeoning commerce with the land below gave rise to grand bridges spanning the slopes of Netheram.

In the Horgon Era, Krarkauk was annexed by the Aslauthroan Empire ( 9 HE - 1891 HE ) .
