The Rift Spanner is a spear-like magical device used to open breaches in the Web of Magic. These breaches are short-lived, persisting for only a few minutes at most. They enable "jumps" across the Void. By design, the Rift Spanner is limited to a specific system, with its power being expended if an attempt is made to open an inter-system rift. The Lith-Crillion race created these devices to aid in the research and cataloging of worlds.
