In the Underdark region of Badmaer lies a frigid sea that is more often frozen than not. During these frozen periods, merchants and travelers abandon their watercraft in favor of ice vessels outfitted with sails and skates. The ice typically breaks up over the summer, then begins to freeze again by Warper, eventually reaching depths of several to ten feet by the month of Kindle. In the western portion of the sea is the port city of Uromon. The drow city of Phaerssysn has naval access to Throarstild, which can be reached by traveling up the Finedhel river.
The one area of Throarstild that never succumbs to the frozen grip of winter is the Damazandal river. This enchanted watercourse carves a path through the expansive terrain, traversing numerous Underdark realms on its journey.
