During the reign of the First Khazarkar Empire, these mountains were extensively mined for their abundant Anûkh'grush Crystals. This unique crystal can now only be found deep within the Underdark, as the mines have been heavily exploited. The Anûkh'grush region is home to rocs and tribes of ogres and ogre-magi. These ogres remained in the land after other civilizations fled during the Great Exodus (998 - 1017). They claim to have survived the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203) by consuming fungi and Underdark creatures, as well as by adopting passive food-gathering activities like fungi farming and fishing.
