Hou'tzor is an icy, bone-strewn valley of Aettein. The ice in this region is not the vibrant blue and white of Ice Cap, but rather a somber gray, akin to ash, interspersed with fields of white from bones bleached by the relentless winds. During the Horgon Era, the dwarves of Izdurgrak steadfastly defended this valley against the encroachment of giants seeking to claim the western reaches of Khalas.
This valley became haunted in 1537 HE when an Eldritch Giant lich named Erthjorn dispatched his undead legions against Izdurgrak. The undead forces tore apart two legions of dwarves during the siege, but were ultimately defeated. Erthjorn was surrounded and killed, yet his essence was so potent that it seeped into the landscape, leaving the valley forever tainted with negative energy and plagued by unusual weather patterns. Following this event, the valley became the domain of innumerable undead, with giants, dwarves, and any other creatures perishing within its confines, only to rise again shortly after. The Black Tide have harnessed Hou'tzor's necromantic magic to reanimate prisoners, slaughtering them by the dozen and then commanding them upon their reanimation.
Creating undead at Hou'tzor can be an extremely perilous undertaking, as entities more formidable than the watchmen and clerics may emerge from certain remains, sowing mayhem or total ruin among the work crew.
