In the First Epoch, Inzurakthol 's northeastern spur became the abode of an archaic white dragon named Amaglothorn. Perched within his mountain stronghold, infested with frost giants, yeti, and winter wolves, Amaglothorn wreaked havoc across the surrounding region.

In 541, construction commenced on transforming the lair into a more respectable residence. The formidable fortress of Iiz Vaaz, Draconic for "Ice Tear," often alleged to have been built by slaves, was largely the work of paid laborers; primarily frost giants and other icy brutes comfortable with the region's chill. Constructed for a dragon, some of Ice Tear's halls and chambers are supported by various types of elemental motes, earth motes to buttress walls and massive ceilings and air motes for shafts that function akin to levitation magic and larger ones working as great fans, transporting those on the wing with ease.

The Ice Tear became the wellspring of a bitter, unremitting storm in 791. This unnatural winter tempest, dubbed Amaglothorn's Breath, blanketed the vales of Inzurakthol in layers of snow, ice, and encroaching glaciers for half a century.

After Amaglothorn's Breath subsided, Ice Tear grew bitterly frigid. At the epicenter of Ice Tear lies Amaglothorn, entombed in shimmering blue-white ice. Surrounding him are dozens of others, disciples and would-be plunderers, all encased like the former master of Ice Tear.
