Before the arrival of the frigid climate and glaciers, the jagged peaks of Inzurakthol were a realm of lush evergreen valleys. The uppermost elevations, reaching heights exceeding 20,000 feet, were inhabited by ice trolls, descendants of those who once served under Orcus during the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , as well as frost giants, then few in number. The lower elevations were home to a dozen Turkûn clans, all distant descendants of the Khage. The lower regions, dotted with water mills and industry, were settled by Gradorian descendants of the Mir'piamauza empire ( 526 HE - 1612 HE ) .

In 791, a white dragon named Amaglothorn catalyzed significant changes in this region. Within the dragon's lair, a rift was opened, initiating what became known as Amaglothorn's Breath ( 791 - 841 ) . Ice, snow, and glaciers filled the vales, driving out all but the hardiest creatures. The southern clans of the vale relocated to Gruordock, while the northern clans migrated west to the ancient city-state of Gulud-Turam. Many of the region's Gradorian and other lowlanders journeyed eastward to Pardhaer and other coastal settlements.

Inzurakthol is home to clans of frost and fog giants, remorhaz, ice trolls, ice mephits, and other icy terrors. The fog giants of Inzurakthol were once frost giants. When tribes of these individuals relocated to Kulaan Ruus, they either descended into madness, frequently murdering loved ones, or in a state of profound despair, threw themselves to the mercy of the depths. The few giants that endured the mania were corrupted by the abyssal energies of Ghak, transforming into something distinct, fog-like titans that lurk amidst the vast fog banks of Kulaan Ruus.
