In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the coasts of Iizus Yeldah were threatened when Gorag'theg's demon army emerged from the Sôvuk Sea Gate. Two years later, inhabitants of the same area came under attacks by invaders under another demon prince. These were demons coming out of Ghak. Many of the mortals of the area came to Pardhaer, which was then but a small keep with celestials monitoring the demon's progress. The influx of refugees turned the place into a bastion as everyone in the city committed themselves to making it defensible. Pardhaer became even more important as a strategic hold as more and more demons came out the bowels of Ghak and the sea gate under Torvild. Ares, then commander of the Quarat'un Covenant, ordered the place held as a thorn in the side of Orcus. It was garrisoned by celestials and set with teleportation circles allowing resupply and bolstering of the ranks when needed. Even these were not enough though when the place came under attack by demon armies numbering in the tens of thousands. In these cases, the defenders undertook a fighting retreat to the fortresses dotting the Fingerels. Once in these fortresses, the defenders were better positioned to handle Orcus's largely land-bound army. This was because the paths of access to these places are across bridges, drawbridges, rope bridges or cables and all under the withering fire of blockhouses, towers, and walls built on Fingerel's larger spires and columns. After a time, the demon forces would move off in search of easier game or to meet the angelic forces moving against their northern and western flank. Pardhaer did just the opposite when facing the aquatic-based demon forces under Gorag'theg. They undertook a fighting retreat from garrisons in Fingerel towards Pardhaer. Even though the city and the Fingerel fell thirteen times in the demon war, the people were never conquered because both Pardhaer and Fingerel never fell together.
The Pardhaer is a colossal structure engineered by celestial architects, with the renowned Dispater among the most prominent designers. The edifice was meticulously planned to withstand assaults from the air, land, and, to a lesser degree, the coastline. The city's coastal defenses centered around a fortified matrix of spires and columns projecting outward from the port area.
In the First Epoch, the individuals of Inzurakthol were compelled to depart their residences by Amaglothorn's Breath ( 791 - 841 ) . The most substantial of these refugees to resettle Pardhaer were the Gradorian. They arrived at this location with such force that they encountered minimal difficulty dislodging beast, monster, or bandit.
The approach to Pardhaer by sea traverses a section of Fingerel. The channel meanders through unnatural columns and spires crafted by Sathel and the artifact Sathel's Wrath. The elves constructed this passage to facilitate commerce, but did so in a manner that renders it highly defensible and perilous to navigate without an experienced pilot. In turbulent weather, the journey through the Fingerels to the safety of Pardhaer's harbor becomes impossible.
Pardhaer is bordered to the west by the Cartáricil forest. The abundance of exceptionally robust hardwood from this forest makes it the preeminent exporter of shipbuilding lumber for all of Midrêth. The city also possesses a surplus of mithril extracted from the mines where the forest meets the walls of Inzurakthol. The predominant currency of the city is red gold, a richer form of the precious metal mined from a collection of deposits amidst the mithril ones.
