The Fingeral region features a multitude of towering spires and columns of rock that jut up from the seabed and pierce the waves for scores of feet. These rocky formations were artificially created during the Demon Spawn War by Sathel, who used her artifact of creation, the Baton of Sathel, to raise these impressive structures as part of the coastal defenses protecting the Covenant citadel of Parhaer.

In the Demon Spawn War, this coastal bastion served as a place of relative safety for those threatened by Gorag'theg's demon hordes emerging from the SĂ´vuk Sea Gate. They also had to contest advances made by Orcus's minions, both by land and air, though the sea attacks proved the most damaging. For a prolonged period, Gorag'theg controlled the seas. The opposing Covenant armies eventually ceded the area to safeguard Irengor. Sathel did what she could for the landlubbers sheltering in Parhaer, creating a web of spires to defend against maritime invasions. The people of Parhaer then fortified some of these spires, interlacing them with barbed nets and other barricades. Fingeral proved most effective against Gorag'theg's demon hordes, though the fiend never succeeded in capturing the place. When confronted by Orcus's demons, the city's populace retreated into the fortified spires, holding them off until reinforcements arrived or the demons withdrew from the grueling struggle.

The spires of Fingeral are now intertwined with reefs, rendering the area impassable for vessels with deep drafts. However, the spires can still be accessed from the shore via rope bridges and permanent structures that extend outward for miles in all directions. The spires closer to the shoreline house manors, residences of the affluent, or company-owned properties. Those spires adjacent to the deep channel leading into the port of Parhaer continue to serve as formidable coastal fortifications.
