Nellaegaer

Nellaegaer is a lake situated in Elberial. The lake serves as the abode for numerous nymphs, dryads, sylphs, and even some malevolent aquatic creatures like nereids and water weirds. The lake suffered a catastrophic event during the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486). Deep beneath the lake, the lich Katrana Dumu-loc created a permanent gateway to the Abyss world Inguvile. This inter-dimensional portal is known as the Abyssal Funnel. It also spawned a nearby fissure that opened into the void. This fissure sucked an entire demoniac army into the airless darkness of space, annihilating them instantly. This army was poised to invade the Sylvan Kingdoms through an alliance between Katrana and an unidentified demon lord. Arcana is believed to have sealed the fissure, and Nellaegaer has gradually refilled over the following centuries.
