The Nithiach is a broad, swiftly flowing river originating from the Sinarag swamp.
In the Second Epoch, the Ningizzida Empire extended this river when they excavated a channel through a series of hills. Through the use of magic and slave labor, Ningizzida's military carved a canyon through the Aglak Rampart. This flooded the valley behind these hills, creating more expansive wetlands. A decade later, the water had carved a path all the way to the Pearl Sea. Ningizzida's effort to block the Farinteen Empire's northern expansion ultimately failed. Meanwhile, the Farinteens channeled the river's flow to farmlands, bolstering the game population and transforming Phanax into an important commercial port.
