The remote Rulamirnur hills sit on the far northwestern edge of the Gakhs mountain range. This region divides the Taurion valley to the east from the Faehion forest to the west. Rulamirnur's soil is fertile and frequently blanketed in ash due to the active volcano Gunar-Mizig in the neighboring Taurion valley.
Rulamirnur's hills are dotted with active and defunct iron, silver, and copper mines. A sizable population of goblins and kobolds resides in the region, with Spirachiln claiming over 50,000 inhabitants. Rulamirnur and the two flanking valleys have a tumultuous history, marked by internal tribal conflicts and clashes with their dwarven neighbors to the south and elven neighbors across Thundrin bay. The area has seen wars instigated by both the northern Spirachiln and the southern Daklode empires, aimed at destabilizing internal elements or undermining each other. By the Third Epoch, interest in seizing the region had largely waned, as both sides recognized the value in maintaining the goblins and kobolds as a buffer between them rather than sharing an open border.
The terrain is predominantly rolling, featuring towering, jagged mounds of earth and lava rock. These elevated hills frequently serve as the setting for a goblin watchtower, a kobold castle, or a mixed humanoid race village or town.
