Rumak is a lake situated in the northeastern region of Ice Cap. Nestled in a secluded pocket, the lake is flanked by hills and dense forestry on one side, while the twisted peaks of Molfath loom on the other. Frequently a turbulent and windy locale, Rumak endures the frigid winds of the Nautrek during the fall and winter seasons, as well as the warm gusts blowing northward in the springtime.
In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), Rumak was a lowland dotted with numerous quarries. Under the control of a primordial lord named Hettar, his diggers were extracting rich gold veins that stretched westward to Hettars Spittoons, where even deeper mining pits were located. At Rumak, the rock from these quarries was removed by impressive construction rigs and cranes, as well as through the arduous labor of Hettar's workforce, which included earth and stone giants, earth archons, elementals, and Covenant prisoners. The stone from these quarries was utilized in the construction of fortifications and dams along the Jhernarth river. During the Lith-Crillion Era, failing dams and river sediment transformed the area into a shallow lake, with a cold swamp in the north and the mires of Garbog in the south. As a result, most of the area's quarries are now submerged.
The city of Rumak boasts more than just its impressive quarries. The construction equipment and cranes utilized in the quarrying operations remain, largely intact and undisturbed. These grand mechanical constructs, their controllers long since departed, sit idle and inert unless provoked. Another awe-inspiring sight is the partially submerged relics of Hettar. Petrified by the platinum dragon Bahamut, the fossilized head of Hettar measures nearly fifty feet across.
